Super Heroes

In recent days I’ve been watching V for Vendetta (which I’d seen before), Captain America and The Avengers.

I loved V for Vendetta the first time I saw it, and the feelings didn’t change the second time. Besides a great story and amazing acting it’s just so pretty. I love the esthetics of the film!

Captain America was way better than I was expecting. To tell you the truth I’ve never been interesting to find out anything about him. The name has kinda put me off, since I thought it was going to be about way too cheesy patriotism. But I was pleasantly surprised and will most definitely watch the next one!

And so, The Avengers… The movie I’ve been wanting to watch for several months now. It was really good, just as I expected. I look forward to watch it again to see the details I might have missed. It’s always nice to see Bruce Banner (I think Mark Ruffalo worked great in the role) and Tony Stark is always fun. And even though Loki seems like a lost cause, I can’t help but like him a bit.

I’ve always liked super hero movies, even though I wasn’t raised with the comics as many others. One of my very first movie memories is actually of Batman, and I’ve kept on watching.

I’m not a huge fan. I haven’t seen them at the theatre, but mostly at home on the telly, but I still really enjoy watching them.

So, yesterday I ordered a bunch of comic books. I haven’t paid yet, so technically I haven’t bought them… They’re nothing fancy, but I’m really looking forward to reading them. I found part one of a new Avengers series and the same with Batman. I didn’t feel it was a good idea to jump in on issue 500, so I settled for new stories instead.

I got a few other ones as well, but they weren’t about super heroes. A few Doctor Who (though I suppose he is pretty super), The Guild #1 (love that show), a reissue of Eerie and the first part of Suicide Forest, which I’m really, really looking forward to. Japanese lore/gore is always interesting, and I really enjoyed the art style in the preview.

I’m seriously thinking about getting some good plastic bags and backing boards for my pathetically small collection. Not that they’ll be worth anything, but I still want them to be safe. And hopefully the collection will slowly grow.

My most loved comic book is an old Star Trek one I got at a convention years ago. It’s from 1970 I think, and a bit roughed up, but it looks so retro that I can’t help but to love it. :)
